Peugeot 504 …'The French Mercedes'
Peugeot had produced a vehicle full of new ideas and innovations - with hydro-pneumatic, self leveling, fully-independent suspension, rear wheel drive transmission, powered steering, and a semi-automatic gearbox, all under an ultra smooth aerodynamic body, styled by Aldo Brovarone, the former chief stylist for Pininfarina who designed the following cars: Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sport, Ferrari 365 GT and the Porsche S82 Spyder.
My “French Mercedes” was registered in 1972 as a Peugeot 504, a top of the range model with a 2.3 litre diesel engine.
I purchased the car in 2002 from a French Classic Cars dealer, George Bostic of Sunset Coachmen, Charlotte, North Carolina. It has undergone a full restoration (interior and exterior) using genuine and original Peugeot factory parts. The engine has been converted from a diesel motor into a 1972 2.0 Litre gasoline twin-carbureted machinery including an air conditioning unit - Thanks to Ramon and Hosea of Meineke, Lynn. I salute Roy and Kevin of Restorations by Roy Classic & Antique Cars, Beverly, Massachusetts.
The car is now available for weddings, proms, birthdays, photo shoots, day trips, dates, anniversaries, graduations, airport pickups, advertisements, film and TV productions.

History of The 504
The Peugeot 504 is an exceptional car manufactured by French automaker Peugeot between 1968 and 1983, with licensed production continuing until 2006 - Peugeot's flagship, the 504 made its public debut on 12 September 1968 at the Paris Salon. The 504 was European Car of the Year in 1969, praised for its styling, quality, chassis, ride, visibility, strong engine and refinement. The 504 represented the biggest departure from the 203-403-404 tradition, although it still incorporated the qualities Europeans had come to expect from a Peugeot, commonly referred to as “The French Mercedes”. More than three million 504s were produced in Europe, ending in 1983. Manufacturing continued in Nigeria and Kenya until 2006, utilizing the Peugeot knock down kits. Kenya production was 27,000 units and the car remained on sale to 2007, being described as "King of the African road".
In 1981, two peugeot 504s as the one presented on this website were used in the James Bond movie, "For Your Eyes Only".
